LAURA PATTISON
Laura Pattison is currently in her third year at Birmingham City University, studying Fine Art BA (hons). Laura resides in Birmingham as a practising visual artist. She has experimented with many different mediums over the past few years, ranging from paints to plastic balloons. Her current choice of material is digital photography, due to the ability of light manipulation.
Her photographs focus on capturing light as a material, rather than using it as a light source. Laura’s images emit an aura and atmosphere that entices the viewer, making them want to understand and see more. They also enable the viewer to question the materiality of the light in the photographs as it occupies a nature and character that is unrecognisable. A very important process of Laura's practice is the careful and precise cropping of her original imagery. It is during this process that she finds the magnificence in how light can behave as a material we do not understand and recognise.
