LAURA PATTISON
Unfamiliar Faces 2013|2014
Unfamiliar Faces (2013/2014) was a series of paintings produced in oil, acrylic and bees wax. This series of paintings was created to set Laura free from her comfort zones of painting portraits in a traditional manor, resulting in the power of colour being present, in order for her to get a feel for the material and substance of paint. The colours used was a way of escaping 'the norm' and was her way of rebelling with the efforts of creating something different and individual. The more abstract her paintings became, the more she enjoyed the process of painting and realised that the subject behind the paintings did not matter, evidently resulting in playing around with different angles of the canvas and how the works should be displayed.
