LAURA PATTISON

How Far (2014) was an installation consiting of balloons, acrylic paint, nails, invisible thread and plastic sheeting. When creating How Far, many factors were considered and used; light, time, reflection, substainability and temporality being some of them. The purpose of this installation was to push the boundaries of painting and how paint as a material can be used and seen, evidently questioning if an installation can be seen as a painting if the same materials were used.

The colours used were expressive, bright and aesthetically pleasing. The material build up of the installation referred to those of a painting; layering, composition and colour with added creation of a sense of space to be wondered into.
